Thermocoagulation works similarly to a microwave, destroying thread veins quickly and effectively without leaving scarring and pigmentation on the skin. At Dr Newmans Clinic we do not use laser surgery for any skin conditions.
What is Sclerotherapy?
Injection Compression Sclerotherapy is a process where veins are injected with a saline solution. This solution causes swelling in the vein wall and destroys the vein over several weeks. At Dr Newmans Clinic we do not use laser surgery for any skin conditions.
What will remove thread veins is laser treatment has failed?
If laser thread vein treatment has failed, then non-laser treatment could be the answer. At Dr Newmans Clinic we use Thermocoagulation and Sclerotherapy to destroy thread veins without the use of lasers. Typically, you should leave 6-8 weeks between thread vein treatments.
Are the microwaves used in thread vein treatments safe?
Yes. The microwaves used in thread vein treatments penetrate the tissue approximately 0.5mm - 2mm at the most, which does not adversely affect the body. All appointments are carried out by one of our doctors.
Will the thread vein treatment hurt?
All patients have different pain thresholds, so what may seem painless for some may cause mild discomfort for others. Our patients have informed us that our thermocoagulation treatment is like having a hair pulled out, and is far less painful than laser or IPL treatments.
Leg vein conditions may require Sclerotherapy, where our doctors carefully inject a saline solution into the veins, and light pressure dressings are applied; Sclerotherapy is tolerated very well by the vast majority of patients. For some patients, the treated area may appear red following a treatment, but our doctors will be able to advise at your appointment the period before this redness calms along with any other considerations. Our thread vein treatments are 'walk-in walk-out procedures’.
