Common Thread Vein Questions

Do veins disappear straight away?

Yes, however you may require more than 1 treatment dependant on the size and depth of your veins. Following a treatment, normal activities can be resumed. It is commonly described as a walk-in walk-out procedure.

Is this laser treatment?

No. Thermocoagulation is heat technology which removes thread veins quickly and effectively and is relatively pain-free. A substantial number of our patients have had unsuccessful laser treatment and have been delighted to find that our clinic has delivered permanent results.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes. The microwaves penetrate the tissue approximately 0.5-2mm at the most, which does not have any adverse effects. The safety of our patients is our only priority and we comply with strict regulations and Government legislation in order to operate.

How much does an appointment cost?

The consultation is £135.00. A treatment cost is £395.00.

All appointments are carried out by a doctor, from the consultation to the treatment itself. It gives patients confidence to know that they are seeing a fully qualified medical expert from the moment they arrive at our clinic.

I am delighted with the results, following saline injections I have had on my leg thread veins. One of my legs is now virtually flawless. The other leg may need one further treatment which would need to be carried out using the wave machine, as the remaining veins are too small to be injected. I cannot pretend the procedure was entirely comfortable as the saline does sting. However the results have been well worth the discomfort. Many thanks to. Dr Paul Beresford-Jones.

I had spider veins on both lower legs, looking like bruises from a distance. I love to wear dresses and I felt very self conscious about the appearance of my legs. I spent a lot of time researching treatments and found Dr Newmans clinic. The decision to use this clinic was because they treat patients who have previously had laser which didn't work or didn't give the results.(not in my case) I visited Dr Finnigan at the Manchester Clinic, he was wonderful, very professional and caring. After only 3 treatments my veins have completely disappeared, no marks on my skin at all. Fantastic results and I would recommend this treatment to anyone needing vein removal.

Red In The Face

Groundbreaking surgery gives brides plenty to smile about.

For some brides-to-be, the idea of a day in the spotlight can provoke waves of panic rather than an excited glow. Being in front of the camera lens can be an intimidating experience, especially for brides with heightened facial redness or rosacea.

A leading vascular surgeon is seeing 15 patients a week who have unsuccessfully undergone laser treatments to rid themselves of thread veins on the leg and face.

They have complained that laser treatments have been painful and have presented with burns, bruising, impaired skin pigmentation and scarring.

Consultant Vascular Surgeon Mr Brian Newman MD FRCS has also trained over 120 UK surgeons who have expressed their dissatisfaction with laser treatments for thread veins. He has taken video and photographic evidence to document each of the failed laser patients who have consulted him to try a new technique for the treatment of fine thread veins, telangiectasia and rosacea* which he has pioneered.

The new treatment uses microwaves to heat the fine blood vessels and as soon as very high frequency energy is applied to them they immediately disappear in a process is known as thermo-coagulation, which causes the vein walls to stick together and collapse. The energy is transferred to the affected area via an ultra-fine insulated needle to ensure a highly accurate application without affecting the surrounding skin and tissue. Because of this, Veinwave can even be applied to areas of the body which until now have been too difficult to treat, such as the face, knees and ankles. As the treatment does not cause a loss of pigmentation, it can also be used on any kind of skin complexion.

Prior to this advance, micro-sclerotherapy - which involves injecting an irritant into the vein – has been widely used for the removal of veins on the leg. However this is generally less effective on finer veins and is not suitable for delicate areas such as the face and ankle. Laser devises designed for hair removal have also been used for vein treatment, but the procedure is painful, offers limited success and carries the risk of burning, skin pigmentation and long term scarring.

Veinwave is a specialist treatment and can therefore only be performed by a GP, General Surgeon or Vascular Surgeon, however, this walk in, walk out procedure is relatively painless, no bandaging is required and patients can resume their everyday activities immediately after the treatment.

The conclusions of a clinical survey on thermo-coagulation conducted by J M Chardonneau concluded that “No known method can take credit for better results. Veinwave fits in with micro-sclerotherapy and laser but with less complications and superior results”. It's inventor, vascular surgeon, Mr Brian Newman concurs “This works where all other treatments – especially laser therapy - fail”.

Special clinics are held in throughout the UK by Dr Newman and the or rosacea and would like to find the nearest doctor in your area treating patients with Veinwave.
